The 2012 Lost Cousin Hunt

The Global 2012 Cousin Hunt

2011 was a great success for my "Cousin Hunt".  I wanted to build on my success of the previous two years, which had found several "lost cousins" in Canada, Australia, the USA and the UK.  At the beginning of 2011 I had only one branch of the family in my sights; the Browns.  I was entirely successful in finding the two people I was looking for, and it has been a great pleasure to "meet" them online.  Later in the year I was able to actually meet one of my Australian cousins, which was fantastic.

In addition to the planned cousin hunting, I found a few cousins along the way.  This has been invaluable for me,  helping my family tree to grow, adding to the documents and photos that make up my family history and reconnecting with relatives I never dreamed I would meet.  I am hoping that 2012 will see a further expansion of my family tree.  I have one major goal:  to find the relatives of my great uncle Edwin Brown.  This has been a goal for some time and one which is always on the back burner.  I intend to put it to the front of the agenda this coming year.

If you visit my other family history blog, The View From The Treehouse, you will see that I have posted about the unexpected direction my family history has taken; I have moved into writing online, which has taken up all my spare time.  I am hoping to redress this balance and update this blog more regularly.  In particular, I want to share more of my ideas for helping you find your lost cousins - I passionately believe that finding your family is a fantastic tool in family history research.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!
